Beware of Online Scams

There are hundreds of new scams everyday. Many of them tempt you with free stuff in order to get sensitive information out of you. The most recent scam is on Facebook. The scammers are offering a chance to win Disneyland tickets if you fill out a form that asks you for your name, phone number, address and other information. After you send in the information the tickets never come, and you are stuck receiving annoying phone calls and e-mails asking you to take a survey.

This scam is directed toward children and teenagers who are anxious to win tickets, iPods or even cash. They do not know any better so lets educate them. Inform your kids about these scams and tell them what to look out for. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.

Carbon Monoxide-the Silent Killer

UntitledCarbon Monoxide kills slowly and quietly and it could be lurking in your home. There is a new law that could protect you and those living in your home from getting carbon monoxide poisoning.

California Senate Bill 183 requires, carbon monoxide alarms are mandatory beginning on July 1, 2011 for single-family homes and January 1, 2013 for multifamily dwellings.

The new requirements apply if ANY of the following are present within a living space.

  • Attached Garage
  • Natural gas or propane furnace
  • Natural gas range or oven
  • Gas or wood burning fireplace

Carbon Monoxide alarms may be battery powered and are required to be outside of each sleeping area of the home and on each level of the residence.

When installing a carbon monoxide alarm make sure to closely follow the manufacturer instructions.

Don’t forget to check the batteries in your smoke detector either. Both of these can save your life!
